From freedom to fashion, khadi gets a facelift
19 th Aug 2014

Khadi, the fabric that came to be the symbolic representation of India's non-violent struggle has been seeing a revival of sorts. Fashion designers in India have been using the fabric and giving it a make-over. More so, India's best dressed PM thus far, Narendra Modi, is a fan of the fabric.

The fabric is an essential part of the cottage industry in india and has traditionally been shunned by fashionistas. The extensive use of the fabric by Narendra Modi has certainly been a step in the right direction for Khadi. By sporting colourful khadi outfits has certainly put both the PM and the fabric in the limelight for the right reasons.

Looking for inspiration to include the humble khadi in your wardrobe? Take a cue from the PM himself and add short-sleeved Kurta's and Nehru Jackets to your wardrobe. Brightly coloured? even better! For the ladies, if a khadi saree is not necessarily your style, you can add a stylish touch by opting for a khadi dupatta.
