On 17th January 2014, in Ahmedabad, there was an event organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), and the Gujarat State Khadi and Village Industries Board (GSKVIB). The event was hosted in the Sardar Patel National Memorial and had the main goal of supporting khadi.
Special guests of this event were Indian fashion designers Rajesh Pratap Singh, Anamika Khanna and Rohit Bal. They presented their khadi-based collections at the event. Their creations were beautiful as always and everybody at the end of the event was able to add a khadi piece to their wardrobe.
Sunil Sethi, the president of FDCI, was really happy and honoured to be associated with the GSKVIB and, at the same time, O. Ravi (IAS), secretary of the organisation, said that supporting khadi is exactly in line with what they do ordinarily. Indeed, according to him, Gandhiji's lifestyle was based on three basic principles: slowness, simplicity and smallness. These points are perfectly represented by khadi and that it is why the organisation and Ravi were so excited at the idea of letting in every Indian house a khadi-made cloth.
Samandar Khan, a famous Manganiyar vocalist from Barmer in Rajasthan, also provided entertainment over the course of the evening. The singer contributed to the general joy of the event, making it more pleasant for every participant.
