DLF Emporio, India’s finest luxury destination, in New Delhi held the second edition of DLF Emporio Design Awards 2013-14 on 18th February. This fashion extravaganza is a platform that nurtures and encourages the next generation of talent in fashion and design. The theme this year was ‘Reinventing the Classics’, such as the iconic Burberry Trench, Dior Bar Jacket, Fendi Baguette or even the traditional Indian Saree.
The fashion event consisted of a jury of well-respected fashion industry stalwarts, such as designers Vineet Bahl and Leena Singh as well as fashion editor Bandana Tiwari. They were seen judging and ranking the young students’ designs.
The event received many entries from renowned fashion institutes such as Pearl Fashion Academy, NIFT and London College. These young contestants were given the freedom to be as creative and innovative as they desired.
The ‘Student Designer of the Year 2013-14’ award and People’s Choice award was won by Ms. Purwa Kumari Sharan from NIFT Gandhinagar, who designed innovative saree-inspired earrings. With this award, Purwa has been given the opportunity to intern with a leading Indian designer and to design and place her collection at the DLF Emporio Luxury Shopping Festival in April 2014.
