The wedding season is here and there are new styles for wearing gorgeous Indian wear. While the saree still remains an all time favourite, there have been many celebrities and socialites that have draped their sarees differently, giving the traditional saree a modern drape.

Socialitie Natasha Poonawala was seen at Arpita Khan and Aayush Sharma’s wedding reception looking stunning in a saree that was draped across her hand instead of her shoulder. Natasha was wearing a saree by ace designers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and she definitely drawed attention with her exquisitely embellished blouse and saree that she draped in a different way.

Philanthropist Parmeshwar Godrej also gave her red saree a different look by draping the pallu on her arms instead of her shoulder. This looked extremely trendy.

Designers like Ridhi Mehra also believe that draping the saree differently makes a style statement and helps people stand out from the crowd. Many designers have paired sarees with brooches and even jackets to match the overall ensemble. Indian designer Vijay Rana also mentions his take on reinventing the saree look by saying that a gorgeous, heavy, embellished and embroidered top can always look glamorous a simple saree, this should however, be teamed with minimalistic jewellery to draw attention to the glamorous blouse or top and saree.

Designer Shashikant Naidu also says that currently heavy tops and blouses are trending, making this the highlight of saree ensembles. The blouse today usually is as important as the saree unlike the past and the saree should always be draped in a manner that matches ones figure!
