A lehenga is a long skirt that falls around the ankles. The skirt is often pleated and embroidered for ceremonial or formal occasions such as a wedding. The lehenga hangs from the waist leaving the lower back and midriff bare. It is therefore normally paired with a blouse (also known as choli) and a drape (duppatta).

What is a Lehenga Choli?

A Lehenga Choli is the combination of a Lehenga (includes a blouse and skirt) and the drape (dupatta or choli). A choli is usually worn alongwith the Lehenga and hence the normally used name of the outfit, Lehenga Choli. It is also called Ghaghra Choli in some parts of India.
