The expectations for Lakme Fashion week are increasing everyday, but our torment will finally come to an end tomorrow with the beginning of the much awaited fashion show.
For now we can please ourselves with the anticipations that some Indian designers have disclosed already.
One of these is Gaurang Shah, who last season at Lakme Fashion Week, conquered everyone with his collection Chandbali. According to what he has said, his new collection is called Kalpavriksha and is inspired by the mythological Hindu tree that is famous for its capacity to make wishes come true. Hopefully this divine tree will make Gaurang’s Summer/Resort collection 2015 stand out from the crowd.
The collection is made from various types of fabrics, that are obviously perfect for the summer and every piece is handcrafted by Jamdani weavers from Andhra Pradesh and Bangladesh, who combined their work with phulkari, chikankari and kalamkari.
The output of this combination of techniques is a perfect harmony between Indian textile traditions and modern styles, that we will see in different kinds of clothing, like anarkali suits, sarees and ghaghras.
There will be something for every taste and every age and Gaurang is really confident that people will appreciate this attempt of innovation, while still being anchored to his signature starting point of Jamdani.
Well, the showcase is scheduled for the 19th of March, so fortunately we don’t have to wait long to see what this designer has in store for this summer!
