Indian designer Archana Rao gained inspiration for her new fashion line called ‘Frou Frou’ from clothes-lines. This inspiration she mentioned came from growing up in India where one sees many clothes on a clothesline when they are hanging out to dry. She mentions that despite all the clothes being different from each other, one is always able to notice a pattern between these clothes-lines.
Similar to these clothes-lines, each design for “Frou Frou” is individual and unplanned but come together like similar clothing in a fusion of modern and traditional Indian wear. Archana also says that design is all about being accidental.
The designer recently showcased this line as part of a charity event called Lend-A-Hand for India’s annual “Fashion for Education” show at The Empire Hotel Rooftop in New York. This fashion show was a fundraiser for the awareness of the 36 million young unemployed people in India to promote education and training for the youth through the sale of tickets.
