Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” campaign is creating a ripple effect throughout the country and is having a big impact. Even the fashion industry is taking cue from his campaign. Recently renowned fashion designer, Archana Kochhar showcased her new “Make in India” inspired collection at the India Fashion Week held in Dubai.
Both Archana and Pakistani designer Deepak Perwani participated in the third season of IFWD which was organized in Dubai on 1st and 2nd December.
Archana spoke to media regarding her latest collection. She said, “My collection "A Tale Of Three villages" for India Fashion Week, Dubai draws its inspiration from the three unique villages of India, two out of which are a part of the "Make in India" campaign initiated by the Prime Minister”
She added, “My collection is inspired by the peace silk which is also known as the "Ahimsa Silk" from a village in Jharkhand. This silk is extracted and woven without killing the silkworms" Her collection endorsed natural colours of silk like beige and ivory. Archana’s latest collection has a blend of indo-western outfits like dresses, Indian bridal wear and formal evening gowns.
Apart from that, she showcased her second collection inspired by the ‘Banjara’ tribe of India. It included monochrome dresses with a hint of multi-colour thread work to add a little splash of color. Last but certainly not the least; she proudly displayed her bridal collection. Her bridal outfits are perfect for destination weddings as the colour palette she used are soft pastels paired with delicate thread-work embroidery.
Celina Jaitly walked the ramp as the show-stopper for Archana Kochhar’s fashion show. The designer said "I had multiple showstoppers for the Grand Finale. Celina Jaitly walked the ramp as the main showstopper; we had real life celebrities, the who's who of Dubai also walking for us”
