The upcoming Lakme Fashion Show will showcase an array of different cultures and locations. Anushka Khanna will be focusing on evoking her mother’s New York Studio 54 from the 70s, combined with an Indian summer.
Khanna states, “ There were so many references on my mood-board for this collection. I was feeling an Indian summer in New York – sultry, unseasonal weather that demand clothes that are slinky.”
Khanna’s collection will comprise of distinct floral shapes inspired by the flower power of the 70s. She has a photograph of her mother that was the main inspiration behind her collection.
Khanna likes to create clothes that can be worn in different seasons, “ I wanted to have a collection of updated staples that was applicable for the entire year, and not anchor it to one particular season.”
Her collection will feature pajama dressing, kimono jackets and fluid silhouettes. She finishes by saying, “The placement and geometry of embellishments is also something I have focused on.”
