Tie and Dye prints have moved from dupattas and tops to pants. Hollywood fashionistas, and most recently, Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone, have been seen sporting the 60s' hippie statement. All this, when it was voted the worst fashion trend in the last 50 years by a British fashion poll. On Thursday, Padukone was spotted wearing red tie-and-dye denims by French designer Isabel Marant at an event in Mumbai. The look was well coordinated with a white tank top and fishtail braid. Internationally, actors Jessica Alba, Drew Barrymore and model Elle Macpherson have recently sported colourful tie-and-dye pants. Indian designers see it as the 'it' trend. Designer Anupama Dayal says, "After being severely criticised, tie-and-dye has still been a popular trend with tops and kurtis. And now it's refreshing to see Deepika being experimental and donning a tie-and-dye bottom. In fact, these days at various fashion weeks across the globe, you'd find tie and dye bottoms in all different styles. It would soon be picked up by youngsters and fashion-forwards." Vibrant shades such as red, shocking pink, purple are doing the rounds these days. "Get over the usual washed out denims. Red, pink and even multi-coloured tie and dye bottoms look trendy," says fashion stylist Manjaree Jindal, adding, "However, it's a little tricky and certainly not for those with huge bottoms or heavy thighs." Leading fashion stores in the city have already stocked up on these pants. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Shop Indian Designer Collections at Strand of Silk
