In the weeks leading up to the royal visit there has been much chatter about what the Duchess of Cambridge would wear on her maiden tour of India.
Kate Middleton has a track record of wearing clothes native to where she is visiting, so we have all been waiting with baited breath to see which Indian designers she would wear.
Her trip kicked off yesterday (10th April) with a trip to Oval Maiden in Mumbai where she sported a tunic Jaipur inspired dress by none other than Anita Dongre.
Kate Middleton showed off her cricket skills alongside Sachin Tendulkar in the uber stylish and equally comfortable free-flowing outfit that gave her plenty of freedom of movement to really get into the game - which she most definitely did, as evidenced by the many photos of her laughing and jumping that have circulated in the press.
The georgette tunic dress is from Love Notes, Anita Dongre’s summer collection. Its all-over Mughal and architectural motifs in blue and red make it the ultimate summer dress.
The Duchess of Cambridge was accompanied by The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William to meet underprivileged children at the cricket grounds, who wore a casual white shirt and blue trousers for the occasion.
Commenting on her new royal fan Anita Dongre said “This came as a total surprise to me! I honestly had no idea that Kate was going to wear the dress. Yes, someone from my team had mentioned that they had asked for our lookbook, but I never took it too seriously.” Dongre added that “So many times people have asked me who I would love to dress, and it has always been Kate for me, I really admire her sense of style so this is super exciting! I think that fashion goes hand in hand with comfort, and I guess that is what Kate chose. I hope to meet her soon.”
