Stripes have long been a wardrobe staple. Think back Jean Paul Gaultier's famous Breton stripes now immortalized as the perfume bottle, or simply think Parisian chic. However, this summer Prada favoured stripes of a colourful kind, giving the classic Berton stripes a twist in the form of thick bands of pink, green and orange and making them perfect for the warm weather. In India, designers Ankur and Priyanka Modi added a hint of colourful stripes in their light jackets and boleros.
How to: Banish the monotone of Breton stripes this season for bolder hues.
Think fuschia, green and electric blue. Opt for loud stripes, like this Zara multi stripe T-shirt, team it with a block coloured red skirt or go all out in Vivienne Westwood Anglomania's striped linen dress.
If you are unsure about braving this trend just yet, opt for pastel shades such as striped cotton t-shirt by Splendid; pair it with denim shorts and Tod's bracelets for a casual summer look. Ease yourself into the trend with accessories, such as Gucci's striped linen scarf and Kenzo's block heels.
Vogue.in loves: While we are lusting after Balmain's sequin prison-style jeans, we aren't really bold enough to wear them out just yet. So we're sticking with Prada's green and gold striped wedges to help us get used to this trend.
